Weddings

As I am new to wedding photography and am still in the process of building up my portfolio, I am currently charging around £250 for weddings, depending on distance travelled and the work involved. I am also open to negotiation. Please note that I have full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance. I also have documents that show that I have no criminal convictions (please see CRB/Police Check on the Home Page for more about this).

It is important to note that, after having taken the time to meet the client, plus the time actually behind the camera, I then typically put in at least one whole day processing the digital images on the computer, cropping, colour-balancing, lifting shadows, etc. It is this time that the client wouldn't normally notice or perhaps doesn't appreciate, and I guess that this is one of the reasons that the more established photographers charge much higher fees.

Typically, I provide the following as part of a Wedding Package:

  • An initial meeting to discuss your requirements. Ideally, this would be at the venue so that we could take a look around and get an idea for locations (at the venue and nearby, if you wished).
  • Possibly a session to photograph the wedding rings using a special macro, close-up lens;
  • Myself in attendance for the wedding ceremony and reception to take the photographs.
  • A full day's work (perhaps more) on the computer, carrying out enhancements to the photos.
  • A CD/DVD of the best of the photos (which might typically be one hundred photos) in colour (JPG) format, suitable for either printing on an inkjet printer or, better still, for printing at a professional lab (very cheap). These will be in a 3:2 ratio format, i.e., suitable for 6" x 4", 12" x 8" or even larger (3:2 ratio) picture frames.
  • A CD/DVD with the exact same photos in black and white (monochrome).
  • A CD/DVD with the exact same photos in sepia.
  • Very importantly: whilst the photographs remain my Intellectual Copyright, you are allowed to use your copies of them for personal, i.e., non-commercial use, in any manner you like for sharing and enjoyment of friends and relatives (many/most wedding photographers supply just a set of photos, and will not allow you to reproduce them at all, and will charge you for additional copies).

Community Events, Live Performances, Portfolios, etc.

I am also keen to undertake other photography work, such as at public events, carnivals, street fairs, live performances, bands, charity work, etc. Also birthday parties, portfolios, photos for web sites and publicity material. I carry portable cloth backgrounds and lighting for portraiture, etc., and I also have macro close-up equipment, lighting and light tents for photographing small items such as commercial products. Fees are negotiable.

This summer, my assignments include:

  1. Main photographer for three days for the In The Pink 'Pink Walks' Breast Cancer charity sponsored walks;
  2. Assistant photographer for Bristol City Council's Bristol's Biggest Bike Ride;
  3. Main photographer at Neath Port Talbot Council's FERAFEST Rock Festival, Ystalfera;
  4. Joint photographer (with Muriel Gallan) on behalf of Music Town Brecon, at Brecon Fringe Festival;
  5. Guest photographer at the Gwyl Pontardawe Festival;
